Orquídeas blancas, moradas, azules, amarillas, los colores se combinan producto del cruce de diferentes tipos de orquídea y  se admira la perfección y belleza que tienen.   La Feria de Orquídeas se presenta este fin de semana en el centro cultural  Casa de las Bombas, en Iztapalapa.

Misael Rodríguez, uno de los expositores, quien tiene su local en el mercado de plantas y flores de Cuemanco, comenta que estas  plantas “no cualquiera las puede cultivar ni tener. Son plantas delicadas y extrañas”.

 Para esta Feria, ofrece 15 especies diferentes de esta flor. Menciona que las orquídeas que cultivan son de plántulas de diferentes países que hacen crecer en invernaderos: Las orquídeas deben entre 19 a 22 grados centígrados como condición necesaria. La flor llega a durar a tres meses y la planta puede vivir hasta años.

Las orquídeas llevan nombres tan exóticos como ellas mismas: Phalaenopsis, las Dendrobium, Oncidium, cattleya y  Laelia y son plantas epífitas, es decir, son plantas que crecen sobre otro vegetal u objeto usándolo como soporte. 

Las orquídeas florecen una vez al año

Cultivar orquídeas se convierte en un arte, entendido como aquello que requiere esmero y dedicación. Gregorio García de la Rosa  tiene veinte años cuidando orquídeas, herencia de su abuelo. Las hace crecer en Cuernavaca, Morelos. Maneja variedad de catleya, Dendrobium, Phalaenopsis y Laelias. “El hábitat que les gusta a mis plantas es un clima húmedo cálido”, porque las orquídeas necesitan resolana, no sol directo, porque se llagan y mueren, dice,  de ahí su delicadeza. Explica los cuidados que implica tener una orquídea: “los medios de cultivo deben ser húmedos y porosos porque no necesitan mucha agua sus raíces. Los riegos se hacen uno a la semana y si hace calor, se ponen dos riegos a la semana.” 

Habla de sus orquídeas con mucha cercanía y  como lo que son, seres vivos. Recomienda abono osmocote, superdrive (abono líquido)  o peters, nutrientes necesarios para lograr una floración satisfactoria. Y menciona algo muy importante: siempre antes de comprar una orquídea, hay que preguntar “si es de frío o le gusta el calorcito”. Con ello se evitará llevar una planta a un ambiente inadecuado  y que no florezca. 

Las orquídeas no son plantas comunes, no es difícil de cultivar, dice Gregorio, pero sí requieren un cuidado independiente a otras. Mantenerlas en medios húmedos, porosos: Corteza, tepojal, tezontle, dándoles una lavada a los sustratos para que se tenga un crecimiento óptimo.

Orquídeas para siempre, encapsuladas

Collares, pulseras, aretes, también conservan la belleza de las orquídeas. Las flores las cortan una semana o dos antes de que se seque y se deja deshidratar para conservar su pigmento natural. Héctor Antonio Bonaga, artesano de OMA Eterny,  explica que después de deshidratarlas, se les da baños con resina. Menciona que este trabajo es su pasión, conjugado con tiempo y práctica, ha ayudado a mejorar su trabajo.

En Cuautla Morelos, donde tienen su sede,  tienen hasta 700 tipos de orquídeas que florecen constantemente, con especies de otros estados y países. También trabajan con mariposas y otras pequeñas flores.

Cada flor lleva un trabajo promedio de dos meses, por la deshidratación “porque si llega a tener cierto porcentaje de humedad, hongos y bacterias que están dentro del encapsulado trabajarían en la flor, manchándolas” comenta el joven artesano.

La vainilla potencializa el sabor

En esta expo también podemos adquirir mieles naturales saborizadas con vainilla, sal para marinar  y extracto de vainilla, vainas. Regina Herrera, representante de The Mexican Vanilla Plantation, menciona que los saborizantes de vainilla que se vende en autoservicios son químicos que son cancerígenos. Una vainilla natural es un sabor exquisito. La vainilla tiene más de 250 componentes aromáticos: tiene sabores anuezados, achocolatados, atabacados, florales, frutales. 

La vainilla mexicana potencializa el sabor y neutraliza sabores desagradables, “sabores choquiosos”. Es toda una delicia nuestra vainilla mexicana, afirma. Tienen su cooperativa en Tuxpan, Veracruz y en su plantación  producen mieles que producen de su floración de naranjo, así como azúcar, vainas y extracto de excelente calidad.

La exposición en las Bombas será solo este sábado y domingo pero si gustas conocer su trabajo de éstos y más expositores, volverán  del 30 de octubre al 3 de noviembre de 10:00 a 17:00 horas en Av. Hidalgo 45, Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de México, en el Museo Franz Mayer.
