Ávila es una creativa diseñadora gráfica y fotógrafa graduada de la Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas de la Ciudad de México y del Dawson College en Montreal. ¡Síguela!

“México Lindo y Qué Herido”, un foto-documental cuyo sujeto de interés son los vendedores ambulantes y artesanos de la Ciudad de México, “tiene como fin expresar la realidad que está viviendo México, representada por más de 200 retratos, y unas cuantas voces que contestan las preguntas de ¿qué piensas de México? y ¿qué esperas de México?”. El título nació de la tradicional canción “México lindo y querido”, donde la última palabra se transforma de manera imponente y sutil de acuerdo con el sentir de Georgina Ávila, quien percibe un México lastimado, “aunque invencible”.

El Dr. Carlos García Benítez, investigador y profesor de la FES Aragón de la UNAM, comenta que la fotografía (o representaciones iconográficas como las llama) tiene una importante significación dentro de las sociedades. “Los humanos somos animales simbólicos, por ello se puede comprender por qué desde el origen el ser humano ha buscado reivindicar su realidad a través de la fotografía”.

En cuanto al poder comunicativo que reside en el trabajo de Georgina Ávila, una creativa diseñadora gráfica y fotógrafa graduada de la Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas de la Ciudad de México, menciona:

“Georgina Ávila logra representar en cada imagen una historia con declaraciones visuales  tan fuertes que te harán experimentar sentimientos de felicidad, nostalgia, tristeza, entre otros. La fotografía siempre ha formado parte de su vida, es por eso que en sus proyectos se puede ver representada su propia visión de la vida y una forma única de contar historias.”

El investigador explica que la fotografía es un documento historiográfico con la capacidad de abrir una brecha a épocas remontas a través de la inmortalización de un instante. “Es una herramienta capaz de sintetizar la complejidad de un enramado político-económico-social y a partir de ellos se puede crear un punto de quiebre para cuestionar lo que sucede a nuestro alrededor”.

La fotógrafa Georgina Ávila estudió en la prestigiosa escuela de fotografía Dawson College en Montreal y realizó trabajos de diseño y fotografía en Canadá por más de 10 años.  Ambas habilidades están presentes en su trabajo.
