Danzón en la CDMX: El baile de los adultos mayores que los hace felices

Marta García tiene 81 años de edad. Tez morena, pelo cano cubierto con tinte rubio dorado. Ríe, se peina, se mueve al compás de la música. Luce una falda blanca combinada con un saco.  Ríe, recuerda a sus hijos y nietos que no la visitan con frecuencia. “Pero soy feliz, fíjate que este baile me ayudó mucho, me saca la depresión, me cura el alma”.

“¿Qué danzonero no ha bailado en la Ciudadela?”, se pregunta Berenice Bautista, una socióloga que se encarga de hacer observación participante en este lugar público para sus estudios de maestría. “Este es el lugar más famoso. El recurso del danzón al aire libre ofrece más ventajas que inconvenientes. La costumbre danzonera en fin de semana es ir a la plaza en la mañana y por la tarde visitar el salón.”

Aprender este baile no tiene costo alguno, en muchas explanadas delegacionales (ahora alcaldías), centros culturales y plazas públicas como el zócalo la aportación es voluntaria y mínima. “Basta con tener una bocina y que suenen las notas musicales del danzón, ese hermoso y antiguo baile cubano”.

“Generalmente en las periferias de la plaza se encuentran los maestros enseñando los pasos y secuencias a personas interesadas en aprender este baile. La cooperación es de 10 a 15 pesos. Mientras en las pistas circulares los espectadores rodean a las parejas que se lucen con sus pasos. Las mujeres con zapatos de charol, medias, gargantillas y aretes elegantes presumen su característico estilo”, detalla Bautista.

Hace  25 años se inauguró la Ciudadela. En Coyoacán, por ejemplo, los sábados de danzón de la Alameda Sur se inauguraron el 26 de enero del 2002 con la participación de orquestas en vivo, virtud que aún mantienen latente. Asisten danzoneras como la de Acerina, Dimas, Sebastián Cedillo y Mexicuba.

“¿Qué siento cuando bailo? Felicidad”, dice Marta. El baile, en específico, el de salón, se ha convertido en una actividad recurrente por parte de las personas mayores. En esta disciplina encuentran una forma de liberar el estrés y dejar el sedentarismo. Desde el clásico danzón, el chacha, el jive, el tango, bolero, mambo, la salsa cubana, cumbia, zamba y quickstep, son algunos de los estilos de baile que las personas de edad avanzada pueden practicar de acuerdo a sus habilidades.

La felicidad, puede expresarse de muchas maneras, en este caso, se encuentra en los pies.
