¿Recárgarse de energía el 21 de marzo? El equinoccio y los centros prehispánicos

º Algunos especialistas advierten que visitar Teotihuacán para recibir el equinoccio, subir a la Pirámide del Sol y cargarse de energía, es una costumbre que es resultado más bien de una moda mundial y no de una tradición prehispánica.

El término “equinoccio” proviene del latín aequinoctium que significa literalmente «noche igual». Este es el momento del año cuando el día tiene la misma duración que la noche en todos los lugares de la Tierra. Este instante ocurre dos veces al año: en marzo y septiembre. De este modo el eje de la Tierra es perpendicular a los rayos del Sol.

“Es un evento astronómico donde el día y la noche empatan su duración; la Tierra se ubica justo a la mitad del vaivén que realiza con respecto a su órbita alrededor del Sol” explica Daniel Flores Gutiérrez del IA de la UNAM.

La asociación más significativa entre el equinoccio y las culturas mesoamericanas se ubica en el sitio maya de Chichén Itzá, donde durante la puesta de Sol se proyecta el perfil de la sombra en la escalinata sur de la pirámide de Kukulkán, también conocida como “El Castillo”.“Nosotros vemos en la pirámide esa serpiente de luz y sombra que se forma, según la tradición histórica-moderna, solamente en la puesta del Sol del día del equinoccio. Tiene varios días de duración; del orden de tres semanas antes y tres semanas después podemos verla tanto en la mañana como en la tarde”, detalla Flores Gutiérrez.

Sin embargo, ¿será cierto que esta es una?

El último 21 de marzo que cayó en fin de semana fue en 2015, casi 100 mil personas se dieron cita en Teotihuacán para recibir el equinoccio, subir a la Pirámide del Sol y cargarse de energía.

Ante este hecho Jesús Galindo Trejo, del Instituto de Investigaciones Estéticas de la UNAM, asegura que estas acciones “responden más a una moda mundial que a una tradición prehispánica, pues no se tiene noticia de que los pueblos originarios hicieran algo parecido en sus centros ceremoniales”.
Aunque reconoce que esta fecha representa una oportunidad para que la gente aprenda más de la historia de estos sitios arqueológicos. Es una moda new age donde se dice que hay fechas y lugares especiales en que las personas puede ir a cargarse como si fueran baterías fotovoltaicas.

“Una evidencia de que esta costumbre no es de origen prehispánico está en que durante los solsticios muchos europeos hacen lo mismo que los mexicanos en Teotihuacán, pero en Stonehenge, Inglaterra”.

¡Ahora ya sabes que no es una tradición prehispánica, pero sí un buen pretexto para recargar tus pilas!
