Expresa tu amor con un alebrije, una legendaria artesanía mexicana

¿Cuál será el regalo ideal para tu pareja o esa persona especial que ha sido tu amigo o amiga por años? En una artesanía mexicana está la respuesta: los alebrijes. Es una idea sencilla que puede contener una carga emocional grande y también es un estupendo detalle creativo.

Una artesanía de origen 100% mexicano

El alebrije es una artesanía mexicana de “reciente” reconocimiento. Fue creado por Pedro Linares entre 1936 y 1940. Se cuenta también que un artesano de San Juan Arrazola, el señor Manuel Jiménez, fue el precursor y el único que ha realizado este tipo de figuras cobrando fama por todo México.

La talla de estas emblemáticas figuras fue expandida por tres jóvenes artesanos del pueblo de San Juan Arrazola; Arsenio Morales, Andrés y Miguel Ramírez. Esteban Mejía, un artesano mexicano cuenta que:

“El material básico para la talla era la madera de los árboles del lugar, la cual era bajada al pueblo desde las montañas. El trabajo se hace cuando el árbol aún está verde. La natural estructura de las ramas inspira a los artesanos a realizar, con ayuda de machetes y navajas, figuras de animales como jaguares, iguanas, perros, serpientes, pájaros, cabras y toda clase de combinaciones”.

Los artesanos crean desde tigres con alas, dragones con colas de peces o saltamontes con la cara de un búho, pues todo está permitido a la hora de hacer un alebrije. Estas figuras artesanales son hechas de papel o madera que, representan personajes mágicos y místicos llamativos.

En Walking Around pensamos que estos seres son realmente extraordinarios y que puedes diseñar el tuyo con base en el animal favorito que tienes con tu pareja o amigos.

Primero; recolecta papel y cartón, las personas que realizan o fabrican los alebrijes con esta técnica, emplean el uso de papel periódico debido a que es suave, manejable y económico. Corta y traza las figuras.

Segundo; arma una estructura de base con la forma de la criatura (con alambre) y fórrala con el papel periódico y las tiras que has cortado. Pega con cinta adhesiva. Por último, pon engrudo, espera a que seque y comienza a decorarlo.

El dato curioso: Entre los clientes de don Pedro de Linares, se encontraban Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo, de hecho, en1990 recibió el Premio Nacional de Ciencias y Artes en la categoría Artes y Tradiciones Populares.
